Mary Baker Eddy, founder of Christian Science

In a time when women were not expected to think for themselves Mary Baker Eddy blazed a trail. Brought up in a devout family she nevertheless faced many personal and health challenges in the first half of her life. In 1866 she faced a life threatening situation and was healed by reading The Bible. She dedicated the rest of her life to find the science or spiritual law behind this healing, wrote a book and founded a church to carry forward her discovery.

Her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scripture is the textbook of Christian Science.·

As a lifelong student of The Bible, Eddy dedicated herself to discovering the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures and demonstrating that applying its spiritual laws can bring healing and harmony to individual lives.
